Races/Ethnicities

Cornath Born (n): Not so much a race as it is a rite.  Children born under the morning light of Corna are considered to be important from birth.  They are believed to hold within a strong light of individuality.  Historically, some of Orphan's most well-known and revered leaders were of Cornath Birth.  Of course there are exceptions, and not every child born under Corna reaches such heights, but much more often than not they are strong-willed, intelligent citizens of Orphan.

Journeymen (n): Journeymen are those who make their living on the plains. The term is used regardless of gender. In the plains glory days, the land produced a rich amount of food and supplies, however a settlement would quickly dwindle an areas resources, necessitating migration in order for the land to recover and begin production again. While the land regained life quickly, the large size of a journeymen tribe necessitated nearly constant movement, and a tribe would usually not make settlement for more than a month at a time. Hence their name. Of the fourteen tribes that once lived and traveled the plains in cooperation, six have become extinct, four live on reservations, two have split and spread around the continent, one has relocated to another nation, and one has dissappeared entirely. With the discovery of chard, the Olivian Parliment attempted to settle the lands of the plains. While the Journeymen initially formed a treaty with the settlers, allowing only a small portion of their lands to be mined, the government quickly broke the treaty and began to spread across the land, demolishing and mining as they went. Several tribes banded together in alliance and fought the settlers in the Journeymen Rebellions. Despite their knowledge of the land and years of brutal fighting, the Olivian Parlimentaty Army outmatched them, and the natives were forced to sign a new treaty. Almost the entirety of the plains was seized by the Olivian Government, and the remaining Journeymen were forced onto a reservation that consisted of little more than about 30 acres. As such the land quickly dried up under the remaining survivors, and many have refugess have fled to different cities and nations, leaving the rich Journeymen culture and history in danger of becoming extinct.

Marahari (n): A tribe of journeymen, who were well known during their heyday as great warriors and hunters. During the rebellion they refused to join with the alliance of the other tribes, opting instead to fight the settlers in guerilla style attacks by themselves. Most of the tribe was completely destroyed, and as such the few survivors have spread out over the nation. The skill with blades has made them formidable opponents in one on one fights, and as such they have been employed as mercenaries, guards, and assassins all over the entire continent of Orphan.
