Calhoon Fortiss: The Last of the Entrusts

by Sheamus Ahearn

"His mind was an incorrigible flame.  Morning rations could not void the bitterness from his tongue.  "Countless Seasons" he thought to himself, not in anger, but in cold disbelief.  He had always been the keeper, never the killer, but ten years of practice made him unbeatable with a Grue and Bladd.  No easy task for a bookkeeper..." From I.

Born of the streets of Dravus, Calhoon thought little of the world beyond his childhood games and city streets. However, when the death of his father thrusts him into the reluctant role of patriarch, his desperation for money forces him to turn to the ruthless Philos Zyeer. Composed of young lost boys and under the guise of Zyer, the Entrusts reside in the sunken woods, directly outside the plains. From their base they embark on all manner of criminal activity, resorting to increasingly violent means in the unending pursuit of coin. When Calhoon's conscious comes to a head, he is forced to choose between his new family or his moral compass. After embarking on a bloody campaign of justice, he is forced to flee from his past and sets off for the road of Olivia. However, it is not long before he again finds himself pulled into a deadly struggle between right and wrong, discovering that the Olivian royal family just may not be as lost and forgotten as people might think.
